Kilkishen Castle is a good example of what happens when old buildings are left to their own devices. More than half of the castle has fallen down with a lot of the stone lying in sections on the ground below. A visitor to the website who used to live in Kikishen remembers this happening in a big storm sometime in the mid to late 80s (thanks Carl).

I met the current owner of Kilkishen Castle when I visited and having asked if he would mind me taking a closer look to get some pictures he informed me that the stairs were still there, it was completely safe, and that I could go right to the top of the castle. So I did. It seems that there are different definitions of the word safe. In another 20 or 30 years will anything remain of Kilkishen Castle?

Nobody Home is a photography website and to the best of my knowledge the buildings that are featured are not for sale. If you are interested in purchasing a period property in Ireland you might find what you are looking for here.
