Leamanagh Castle is a much photographed and distinctive structure in the south of The Burren region in Co. Clare. It is composed of the original tower house built in 1490 and an extensive dwelling house that was added sometime in the 17th century.

It used to be the home of a very fiery lady by the name of Maire Rua. There are many legends that have grown up around this lady, many of which are exaggerated. She is said to have either thrown her third husband out of one of the windows in the castle or forced him to ride his horse over the nearby Cliffs of Moher. Leamanagh Castle is in an area rich in tourist attractions, making it a very popular spot in the summer months.
